“Laws That Helped African Americans” is a show that will discuss laws passed in the United States that had a positive impact on African Americans. Laws to end slavery, unequal education, lynching, segregation, and others will be discussed in further detail. We will also take a look at how these unjust laws had an affect on African Americans, why they existed in the first place, and why these laws had to be abolished. We will look at how abolishing these unjust laws continue to help African Ameicans today. The “Celebrating Black History: Past & Present” Show will feature African- Americans who have made an impact in Black History as well as U.S. History. The show will start with present African-American Icons who are now making a difference. Our most recent trend setter is President Barack Obama. We will take a look at his biography and his road to becoming president. We will also look at present icons such as Lawrence Douglas Wilder, Oprah Winfrey, Comer Cottrell, Maya Angelo, & John Johnson. We will also take a look at Past African-American Icons such as Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, Medgar Evers, Malcolm X, Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman, Madame C.J. Walker, Shirley Chisholm, Thurgood Marshall, & Mary McLeod Bethune.
